A Guide To Cancer Wristbands
By Peter Emerson, Fri Dec 9th

"Cancer wristbands have become enormously popular in the lastcouple of years. Ever since champion bicycle racer and cancersurvivor Lance Armstrong created the famous "Livestrong" yellowwristbands to help raise money for his Lance ArmstrongFoundation cancer charity, other organizations have startedmaking similar wristbands to raise money for their own causes.Cancer wristbands are an efficient way for charities andorganizations to raise money for their cause as well as aninexpensive yet meaningful way that people can show theirsupport. The two most popular cancer wristbands are the yellow"Livestrong" wristbands and pink breast cancer awarenesswristbands.

Both of these types of wristbands are made of either silicone orrubber. They are flexible enough to stretch over a person's handin order to fit on the wrist. The wristbands are usually soldfor a dollar apiece, though sometimes it is necessary to buy aminimum of ten to get that price. All of the proceeds of theLivestrong wristbands are donated to the charity, even forwristbands bought through a third party. The wristbands are notonly used for fundraising, they also raise awareness. People whowear the colored cancer wristbands are publicly showing

theirsupport for people living with cancer.

The Lance Armstrong Foundation was created in 1997 to raisemoney in order to provide information and assistance to peopleliving with cancer. This nonprofit organization began making theyellow "Livestrong" wristbands in early 2004 and has sold morethan 40 million worldwide.

Pink breast cancer awareness wristbands have become morewidespread recently. They are made and sold by a number oforganizations to help fund research and treatment for womensuffering from breast cancer.

Wearing a cancer wristband is a good way to make a statement andhelp a worthy cause. Organizations raise millions of dollarseach year to help win the fight against cancer by selling thesewristbands."
